Embracing Imperfection
The term kintsugi represents Japan's ancient art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with urushi lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. For the Japanese, it's part of a broader philosophy of embracing the beauty of human flaws. Kintsugi Consulting and Counseling practice embraces the same philosophy in that life experiences, while some may be difficult, can lead to growth and change.
Enjoy less anxiety, depression, or PTSD symptoms, and increased skills and confidence to live your life more fully. Kintsugi providers will encourage you to grow in ways you never thought possible. From being asked to dig into things that you may be avoiding, through the practice of self-compassion, Kintsugi can help you find increased peace and equanimity in your life.
"Painful feelings are, by their very nature, temporary. They will weaken over time as long as we don’t prolong or amplify them through resistance or avoidance. The only way to eventually free ourselves from debilitating pain, therefore, is to be with it as it is. The only way out is through."
– Kristin Neff
Difficult journeys are best taken with a guide.
"A break is something to remember, something of value, a way to make the piece more beautiful, rather than something to disguise."
– Penny Reid
